Pacific Crest Trail – Going for a hike

05 Apr Pacific Crest Trail – Going for a hike

I’ve decided to have me a walkabout. 2663 miles of walking to be exact. Roughly 500-800 people attempt a thru-hike of the PCT each year. Half of those will make it the distance.

There is plenty to say about the Pacific Crest Trail. Growing up in California I’ve always been aware of this trail and the challenge it represented. As my days have passed, while my knees and ankles have been battered and rebuilt, and as my yearning for the outdoors has grown, the idea of doing this hike has become more and more important and grand. This Summmer I’ll do it.

I’m shedding the desk, the computer, any remnants of corporate lifestyle, any lingering addictions to facebook or angry birds. I can’t wait. The excitement is all consuming. It’s hard to sit still.

Now, I’m in a mad dash to get ready and I look forward to putting all decisions behind me and facing the trail with whatevers on my back. I’ll be hitting the trail just South of Campo, CA on April 22nd.
